  Obituary: Oren Paul Simon November 28, 2009 Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley for Oren Paul "O.P." Simon, Jr., 61, who died at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his residence. Officiating for the services will be Father Gary Schexnayder. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009 and will continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009. Mr. Simon was in the oilfield business for over 35 years, working for Hub City Coil Tubing in Lafayette. He was Operations Manager for the last four years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 and on the Rice Festival Board of Directors. He was recently awarded the Louisiana Veterans Honor Medal. O.P. loved to spend time with his family and especially with his grand children. He was an avid golfer and loved traveling. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patty Kanter Simon of Crowley; two sons, Oren P. "Trey" Simon III and his wife, Traci and Ryan "Simon" P. Simon, all of Crowley; two grandchildren, Cole Michael Simon and Avari Kate Simon; his parents, Oren P. and Betty Simon of Crowley; two brothers, James Simon, wife Cheryl and Robert Simon, wife Debbie, all of Lafayette. Pallbearers are Cole Michael Simon, Oren "Trey" Simon III, Ryan "Simon" Simon, Bill Jackson, Jody Viator, James Simon, Robert Simon, Charles Abshire and Jack Tackett. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, Inc., 2600 Johnston St., Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503-3240. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
