- Obituary:
Marek, Nelson 77 of Caldwell passed away quietly Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Burleson St. Joseph Hospital in Caldwell.
Services are planned for Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Heckman Officiating, burial will follow in the New Tabor Cemetery in Caldwell.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m.
Nelson was born August 24, 1933 in Burleson County to parents Hynek Marek and Annie Skrivanek. He graduated from Snook High School in 1951 at the age of 16. He then started working in the Banking business in Austin for nearly 40 years. He served his country during the Korean War in The Army. He was also a Life Member of VFW Post #4458. He loved computers and watching westerns especially John Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents. 2 brothers; Frank and Wilton Marek.
Mr. Marek is survived by brother Melvin Marek and wife Peggy of Caldwell, 2 sisters; Margaret Hunter of Austin, Ann Sherfy of Houston and sister-in-law Margie Marek of Caldwell and by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Marek, Brad Marek, Frank Wilson, Patrick Keefe, and David Marek.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Stan Sherfy, Suzanne Hunter, Cindy Keefe, Michelle Wilson, and Monica Marek.
Military Honors will be under the auspices of VFW Post #4458 Caldwell.
