Notes - Obituary:
Ellis C. Hunter, age 89 of Austin, Texas passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 with his family at his side.
He was born on December 28, 1919 in Taylorsville, Kentucky to Thomas and Agnes Osborn Hunter. During World War II, he served in the army and was stationed at Camp Swift, Texas where he met and married Margaret L. Marek on January 15, 1946. They have lived in Austin for 62 years where Ellis was in the convenience grocery store business. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being outdoors. Farming, raising cattle and gardening were also a large part of his life. He liked people and never met a stranger. There are many friends and family who will miss him.
In 1957 Ellis joined Ridgetop Baptist Church where his membership continues today.
Ellis is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mae Clements, brothers Herman and George Hunter and son-in-law, David Miksch. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, daughter Suzanne, sister Kathryn Brown and many other family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 10,2009 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar. Funeral Services will be held December 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX.
