  Obituary: Funeral services for John William Springer, 86, of Somerville, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Heckman, pastor of the Caldwell Brethren Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. A visitation is set for Sunday, January 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Springer passed away January 29, 2010 in Caldwell, after a long battle with cancer. John was born on March 6, 1923 to Frank and Myrtle Springer of Killeen, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Caldwell and was married to his wife and best friend, Jacqueline for over 30 years. They were married in Houston on December 27, 1975. John was a member of the Caldwell Brethren Church. He also was member of the American Legion, the VFW and was in the VFW Honor Guard. He liked to hunt, fish, campout and country dance. He was a cowboy and he loved the outdoors. John is survived by his wife Jacqueline, son Darryl Wesley Springer, his three step-children, Phil Burk, Johnny Burk, and Vickie & Jim Hefner, his sister and brother-in-law, Dawn & Cotton Griffin, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Josephine Lydia Springer (Published by Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell, TX)
