    • Obituary:

Janice Elizabeth (Turpin) Bradley, age 76, passed away peacefully January 3, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 25, 1944 to William Warren Turpin and Margaret (Boshell) Turpin. She married the love of her life, John Michael ('Mickey') Bradley, in October, 1965 who preceded her in death in 2007.

Janice had a love for her flowers and shared a passion for vegetable gardening and fishing with her husband Mickey. The river house was a special place for them and where they enjoyed gathering with family and friends. On weekends they could also be found rooting for the Alabama Crimson Tide and UAB Blazers. She was the quintessential southern cook, cooking 'from scratch' and always had a tin of chocolate sweets at-the-ready if you dropped by for a visit. She doted on her family and friends for their birthdays and holidays especially where her love of traditions as well as personal and unique gift-giving was evident.

In addition to homemaker, Janice was active in her church, St. Stanislaus, for many years, leading youth and ladies groups, organizing fund-raising events, and had a long-running career with State Farm Insurance in Hueytown, Alabama. She never met a stranger and helped so many over the years in their time of need. Her big smile and spunky sense of humor will be missed greatly. Janice was predeceased by her mother and father, husband, and sister Carolyn Turpin Carden. She is survived by her brother James Warren Turpin; her son Christopher Bryan Bradley; daughter Alecia Bradley Kontzen and son-in-law Robert Clark Kontzen, II; grandchildren, Christopher Andrew Kontzen and Ryan Michael Kontzen; her many brothers- and sisters-in-law and nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and whom many referred to as their 'beautiful Aunt Janice.

Janice will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama where a graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends making a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society.
