McBride's Soda Fountain
The soda fountain at McBride's was added to the pharmacy and bus station in May 1940 and quickly became a gathering place for old and young alike, a training center for the many "soda jerks" who worked the trade there.

Notes - Death Notice:
Late Flash
Walter McBride, lifetime Rayne resident and former owner of McBride's Pharmacy died suddenly at about 4:55 p.m. at McBride's Office Supply on West Texas Avenue.
According to unofficial reports, Mr. McBride died while reading a magazine.
Funeral service were incomplete at press time.

Walter McBride Dies Suddenly
RAYNE, LA. - Walter Joseph McBride, 73, lifelong resident of Rayne and member of a pioneer family of this area, died suddenly at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday while visiting with members of his family in a local office supply firm.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. Fr. O'Neil Landry of Centreville will officiate. Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McBride had been a Pharmacist here for 50 years, operating his own drug store. He retired several years ago, but had remained active in his profession, assisting other local druggists at intervals.
He is survived by his widow, the former Eva Claire Lancaster; two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Raymond, Jr., Rayne, and Mrs. Gabriel Alviandian, New Haven, Connecticut; and one sister, Miss Ella McBride of Rayne. Five grandchildren also survive.
