Florence Louise German
February 22, 1933 - December 12, 2024
Florence Louise German, 91, of Thompsonville, passed away at 9:44 a.m., on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Herrin Hospital.
Louise was born on February 22, 1933, in Benton to Lloyd and Pauline (Moore) Lasley. She was united in marriage to Sam German on February 23, 1957, in Anderson, Texas. They shared 62 years of marriage together, before he preceded her in death on May 16, 2019.
Louise was retired having worked at Weingarten Grocery in Bryan, Texas and later worked at Nutrition Headquarters in Carbondale. She was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church near Paulton. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge in Pittsburg.
Louise enjoyed playing the piano, painting, crocheting, and enjoyed gardening when her health still allowed her to.
Louise is survived by her children, Russell E. (Nancy) Odum of Marion, Caron (Scottie) Harris of West Frankfort, Catherine (Gary) Mosley of Bryan, TX, Dennis (Ruby) Odum of Benton, and Lloyd (Maureen) German of Akin. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jessie German, Jr.; brother, James Lasley.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, with Pastor Ken Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery near Paulton.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran's Honors Flight. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home the day of the service.
