      Veteran Port Neches Refinery Employe Dies
      ----
      PORT NECHES, Oct. 5 - William H. Betterton, 64, died at his home here early this morning following an extended illness of several months. He had been a resident of Port Neches for 20 years.

      Former Gulf Man

      Mrs. Betterton was a retired stillman from the Pure Oil company, where he had worked for 19 years. He ahd also been employed by the Gulf Oil corporation of Port Arthur for 15 years. He was a native of Danville, Va., and a member of the local First Baptist church.

      Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Central Baptist church. The Rev. J. Earl Bryant of Groves and the Rev. J. B. Youngblood will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

      Pallbearers will be Tom Sherman, J. D. McDonad, H. C. Reees, J. B. Ennis, H. H. Taylor and S. O. Hurst.

      Survivors

      Surviving Mr. Betterton are his wife and one daughter, Sarah, both of Port Neches; three brothers, G. C. Betterton of Groves, B. A. Betterton of Danville, Va., and B. B. Betterton of Detroit, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Henry Lee Wyatt of Virginia.
