Notes - Obituary:
Vonnie Grumbles, 91, passed away Friday, October 5 at St. Joseph Manor in Bryan.
Funeral service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a reception to follow. Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Vonnie was born December 22, 1926 in Hamilton, Texas the son of Oliver Franklin and Myrtle Martha (Cook) Grumbles. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 4692. Vonnie worked as a laboratory mechanic in the TTI Department at Texas A&M University and retired after many enjoyable years of service. He enjoyed play Moon (dominos) and poker with his friends.
Vonnie is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth (Burkhalter) Grumbles; brothers, Floyd, Ozell, Van, Artis and Jeff Grumbles and a sister, Bonnie Grumbles.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Sue Abate, Kay and Clay Perry; grandchildren, Kim, Lynette, Gina, Frank, Leslie, Daffney, Tanya and Natasha; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
