    • Obituary:

James "Jimmy" Fridel, 69, of Millican passed away Tuesday, January 17th at Scott and White Healthcare in Temple, Texas. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 7:00pm, Friday, January 20th at Nobles Funeral Chapel. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00am, Saturday, January 21st, also at the funeral home. Rev. Glen Whitmire will officiate. Interment will follow at Wheat Cemetery in Millican.

Jimmy was born May 16, 1947 in Bryan, Texas to Albin and Albina Fridel. In 1972 he married Sherry Ryder. He worked as a truck driver most of his life and provided well for his family of five children. He had a beautiful voice and was also very well known as a Christian Gospel singer for his church. He never met a stranger and always saw the good in people, never judging anyone by their past. He was a very strong "healer/helper" personality and his arms were always open. His contagious smile made any bad day a bit more bearable.

Jimmy loved scratch-off lottery tickets, particularly during his brief illness when his family would visit, bringing several to keep him occupied.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Millican, daughters and son-in-law Pam and Ernest Cantu of Millican and Kim Fridel of College Station; sons and daughter-in-law Wesley Muth, Richard Fridel and Shane and Kim Muth, all of Millican; sisters Patsy Olexey, Linda Olexey, and Ruth Fridel, all of Bryan, and Louann Fridel of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law Johnn and Judy Olexey, Kenneth and Debbie Olexey, Billy Olexey, Bobby Olexey, Mike Olexey and Paul David Olexey, all of Bryan; grandchildren Roland, Chris, E. J. , Trent, Donny, Jamee, Eran, Stephanie, Reese, Amanda, Chelsey, Kasey, Kourtney, Cameron and Cade; and great-grandchildren Chris and Braden.

Serving as pallbearers are Mike Fridel and Trent Muth, both of Bryan; Devin Flores and Bo Meece, both of Navasota and Shane Muth and E. J. Cantu, both of Millican.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Louis Fridel, Bill Fridel, and Richard Olexey; sister Lottie May Olexey and sister-in-law Terry Olexey.
