Clarence E. "Whit" Powell, 78, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died Sunday, February 27, 2000, in Wichita Falls.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Faith Village Church of Christ with Charles Grisham, of Faith Village Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, Texas, under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Powell was born September 7, 1921, in Red Springs, Texas. He married Lucille Brothers in 1964, in Seymour. She preceded him in death on April 13, 1987. He was a member of Faith Village Church of Christ and a resident of Wichita Falls since 1965. He served with the Army during World War II. He was a cement finisher for Texas Department of Highways.
Survivors include two sons, Davis L. Powell and Randy E. Powell, both of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Vickie L. Freeze of Estelline, Texas, and Teresa Lockhart of Memphis, Texas; a brother, Charles "Buddy" Powell of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; five sisters, Marjarie McCandless of Sand Springs, Clella Powell, Irene Hogan, Jeffie Smith and Helen James, all of Lubbock; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
