ALEDO - John Melton Littrell, 95, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at his residence in Aledo.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Aledo Church of Christ. Graveside service: 5 p.m. Monday at Eastland City Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland where John Luttrell will lie in state until Monday morning.
John Melton Luttrell was born March 20, 1905, in Bosque County, the first born son of Lon and Lizzie Luttrell. He was one of five children and he lived an outstanding and rich life for 95 years. He was forced to drop out of school in only his second year at 8-years-old due to an accident with his father. John began a long life of hard work to support his family and contribute to the welfare of others. From his first job, driving a team of mules hauling logs used in the construction of Lake Cisco Dam, to owning his own business and several self-employed enterprises. He excelled in every walk of life. He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Aiedo and previous member of the Church of Christ in Ranger. He was the most instrumental person in establishing the Church of Christ in Caddo in 1929, having preached, led singing and taught Bible classes. In his retirement years he enjoyed sharing his woodcrafting skills with friends and family. This great Christian man will be missed by his many friends and especially his surviving family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Allie.
