  Obituary: BOWIE - Helen Evalena Hammond, 75, passed away Feb. 5, 2016 in Decatur, TX. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 9 at The White Family Funeral Home. A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Feb. 10 in the drawing room of The White Family Funeral Home. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery. Helen was born June 16, 1940 in Seymour to Addison "Bud" and Shirley (Nix) Vickers. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Bellmire Nursing Home and the Bowie Hospital for many years. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, cards, going to casinos and playing with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Shirley Vickers; two husbands, Jim Tom Hicks and Kenneth Hammond, and brother, Melvin Vickers. Helen is survived by her children, Nancy Hicks, Bowie, Paul Hicks, Alvord, Jim Hicks and wife Cindy, Bowie, Cindy Debord, Wichita Falls, Bill Hicks and wife April, Houston; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Davis and husband Jerry, Wichita Falls, and Gayle Smith and husband Tilden, Moore, OK; brother, Glenn Vickers and wife Jennifer, Seymour; extended family, Karen Davis and husband Lester, Bowie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
