    • Obituary:

      Rexie Ray "Rex" McNew, 60, of Gonzales, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. He was born April 5, 1946 in Big Spring, Texas to R. X. and Lillie Ruth McGuire McNew. He was a location manager for Austin Powder Company for nearly 30 years and also farmed his own land. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Big Spring and the Odd Fellows Lodge and had served in the U.S. Army.

      He married Patricia Susan Lindquist on February 14, 1965 in Chicago.

      Survivors include his wife Patricia Susan Lindquist of Gonzales; daughter, Misty Sue McNew Gonzales and husband Ramiro of Ocean Side, CA; three sons, Tony Ray McNew of Beaux Bridge, La., Scotty Ray McNew and wife Marsha of Big Spring and Dwayne Ray McNew of Gonzales; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Kelly, Devin, Kyle and T.J. McNew, Sean and Steven Boren and Alex Gonzales; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Shauna McNew; five sisters and three brothers.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Roy McNew.

      Funeral services were held at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales on Friday, November 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. Graveside services and burial will be held at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2 p.m.

      Pallbearers were Scotty Ray McNew, Dwayne Ray McNew, Devin McNew, Dennis Cummins, Skip Howland and Cody McCann.

      Honorary pallbearers were Tony Ray McNew, Kelly McNew, Sean Boren and Steven Boren.

      Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.

      Seydler-Hill Funeral Home of Gonzales, 906 St. Paul, Gonzales, 672-3232, was in charge of arrangements.
