    • Obituary:

Dr. Linda Wilbanks Crow, age 73, passed away on September 26, 2023, at home surrounded by family. She was a native Houstonian born September 1, 1950, to Kenneth and Dorothy Wilbanks. She spent her childhood in the Heights. She attended Harvard Elementary, Hamilton Middle School and Reagan High School (now Heights High School). As the 1968 valedictorian, she went on to attend The University of Houston earning a BS, MS and PhD in the Sciences and Education, often being the only woman in her science classes. Her professional passion was science education. She published widely and developed STEM curriculum focused on middle school students. Throughout her career she was employed at Houston Community College, Baylor College of Medicine, The University of Houston Downtown and Lone Star College, where she taught many Life Sciences courses and received numerous teaching awards. Linda was known for her wit, intelligence, and her fierce love for her family. She loved to scuba dive, traveling with her husband David around the world. She was also an incredibly devoted grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her brother Byron, father Kenneth, mother Dorothy, and husband Phil. She is survived by her current husband, David Rogers, daughters Erin Salmatanis (husband Mihalis) and Shannon Kelley (husband Paul) and granddaughters Penelope and Petra Salmatanis, all of whom will miss her very much. We also wish to acknowledge her caregiver, Assiatou Diallo, who cared for her lovingly and brought brightness to her every day.

A gathering will be held on October 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway Houston, Texas, immediately followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. The family will hold a private burial following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be given in her name to The Rise School of Houston or Friends for Life animal shelter.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.earthmanresthavenfuneralhome.com for the family.
