David Burnett, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023, in De Soto, MO. Born on April 22, 1942, in Vandalia, MO, David lived a life filled with love and kindness. David had worked at K-V Pharmaceutical for 30 years.

David was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in tending to his gardens, canning fruits and vegetables, and creating beautiful landscapes. He had a deep appreciation for nature and could often be found birdwatching or enjoying a peaceful fishing trip. David's compassionate nature extended beyond his love for animals and the environment--he was known for his generosity and caring demeanor towards his family, friends, and community and especially the Hillsboro Food Pantry.

David is survived by his loving wife Vonna Burnett (nee Darnell), whom he shared many cherished memories with. Together they raised a beautiful family who brought them immense happiness. His children Jane Burnett, David Burnett, Tracy Burnett, James Burnett, Laura Woodruff, Tim Woodruff, Christopher Belken, and Carla Holland will forever remember the love and guidance he provided. Additionally, he is survived by sisters, Mary Orr, Kay Jones and brother Gary Burnett. David leaves behind his 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy.

David was preceded in death by a wife Melba Jean Burnett, his father David Burnett, mother Lois Burnett, brothers Jimmy Burnett and Jan Ray Burnett, sisters Patsy Morrison and Davelene Reichenburg. Although he is no longer with us physically, his memory will live on through the countless lives he impacted.

To honor David's life and celebrate the legacy he leaves behind, a visitation will be held on August 6, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Robert D. Brown Funeral Home Inc. located at 103 4th St., Hillsboro MO 63050. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m at the same location.

On August 7, 2023, at 12:00 p.m., David will be laid to rest in the Troy City Cemetery located in Troy, MO.

David was a remarkable man whose unwavering love and caring nature touched so many lives. His legacy of compassion, generosity, and appreciation for life will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to bring comfort and joy to all those who mourn his loss.
