Vernice B. (Crow) Burns, 72, of 3437 S. Chase Lane, Denver, Colo., died 5:45 a.m. Jan. 21 in Denver following an extended illness.
She was born July 30, 1914, in Ross County to Elza and Jesse Day Throckmorton. In August 1974, she married Robert C. Burns, who survives.
Also surviving are a stepson, Dr. Daryl Burns, Denver; a brother, Roy Throckmorton, Akron; a niece, Linda Walton, Laurelville; two great-nieces; two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Anne Bosworth.
Mrs. Burns was a teacher and educator with the Denver Public Schools for 33 years. She was a life member of the D.A.R., Kappa Delta Pi Sorority and the P.T.A. She received the Outstanding and Distinguished Teacher Award in 1963.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Fawcett-Oliver and Glass Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 4-8 p.m. Sunday.
