- Obituary:
Frances Mae Simmons Nations, born May 23, 1938 in Jackson, Missouri, passed from this life on April 13, 2017 in Lexington Kentucky. She was a member of the Church of Christ and although she had been ill for an extended period of time, she was without pain and lived a full and happy life. Her parents were Lucas Levi Simmons and Oma Laverne Gattis; Simmons; Barks.
She is survived by her husband: Gerald W. Nations and her children, Ricky Nations of Hardy, Arkansas, Sherree Nations of Beattyville, Kentucky, G. Marc Nations of Zoe, Kentucky, Rita Ornelas of Lake Wales, Florida, Charles Nations of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Jennifer Ashley of Lake Wales, Florida. Surviving also is a special niece, Patricia Wells Wallace, whom was reared by Mrs. Nations and her husband. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and a large growing host of great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Wilma Simmons; Hovis, Jimmy Simmons, and Evalene Barks Collins, all of whom preceded her in death. Her siblings who survive her are Glen Simons, Roy Simmons, Carol Lincoln, Earlene Lunsford, and Gene Barks. Frances grew up in Kennett, Missouri and lived there for many years. She had relatives, cousins, and grandparents who lived in Marble Hill, Missouri and Nimmons Arkansas. Frances moved to Lake Wales, Florida in 1975 but in her later years lived near family in Kentucky.
Graveside Services were held on April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Richard Benson officiating.
