    • Obituary:

      Jack R. Wells, age 80, passed away at 1 am Friday, August 17, 2012 at his residence.

      He was born on July 3, 1932 in Auxier, KY, the son of the late Hobert and Abbie (Richmond) Wells.

      Jack married the former JoAnn Skelton on April 15 1996 in Jerseyville, IL. She survives.

      He was an over head carne operator for Laclede Steel for 41 years before retiring. Jack served his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights, Also he was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the Society of the Third.

      He is survived by his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Mark Wallace of Louisville, KY, Jennifer and Chris Hamby of Wood River; a step daughter, Carla and John Brommet of Florida; a step son Carl and Phyllis McClellan of Aton; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.

      Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jason Wells; a brother, Kermit Wells; and a sister Ileana May.

      Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2pm until 4pm, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral Service will be at 11 am, on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, with Pastor Dan Smith officiating.

      Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team will conduct military honors, following the funeral service.

      Burial will be private.

      Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
