    • Obituary:

Mrs. Corneil Holman Phenix, 82, of Henderson passed into the presence of her savior on June 17, 2010. Services celebrating her life will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Henderson, Texas with Dr. Greg Johnson, Rev. Bill Tisdale and Rev. Robert Hall officiating under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Visitation will take place after the service in the Family Life Center of the Church.

Corneil was born on December 29, 1927 in Ashdown Arkansas to Robert Barton Holman and Cornelia Bacon Holman. She graduated from High School in Texarkana, Arkansas and later attended the Baylor University where she received a Bachelor's degree. She was a violinist in the Baylor Symphony Orchestra. She attended the First Baptist Church of Henderson where she served as financial secretary, WMU chairman, choir member, and faithful servant. She was a gifted musician who enjoyed playing hymns of faith on the violin and piano. Outdoor activities were a large part of her life. She enjoyed fishing, golf, tennis, and swimming. She was a past president of the East Texas Women's Golf Association and enjoyed playing golf tournaments. Playing bridge and spending quality time visiting with her close friends brought her great joy. Corneil and Jim loved to travel "touching" all fifty states of the U.S. and attending all four Grand Slam professional tennis tournaments. Family vacations were a priority. Being a mother was her passion. She poured her life into her family and encouraged her children in all their pursuits. She volunteered for service in many areas including serving as PTA president. She transported her children and many of their friends to countless activities, events and tournaments. Her home and kitchen were open to all who chose to come in. Appropriately she said that if she found a burglar in the house, she would probably feed him and put him to bed. She had a keen sense of humor and loved to entertain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James N Phenix, Sr. and her grandsons, Chad Hutto and Trey Phenix.

She is survived by her four children, Jimmy Phenix of New Orleans, Louisiana, Bobby Phenix of Highland Falls, New York, Connie Hutto and husband, Charles Hutto of Henderson, and Rusty Phenix and wife, Devon Phenix of Henderson. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Teague Phenix of New Orleans Louisiana, Dayne Phenix of New Orleans, Louisiana, Brandon Phenix of New Orleans Louisiana, Clark Phenix of Longmont, Colorado, Charlie Hutto and wife, Amy Hutto of Nashville, Tennessee, Kim Fretty and husband, Casey Fretty of Richardson, Texas, Macy Phenix of Waco, Texas, Madison Phenix of Waco, Texas, and Micah Phenix of Henderson; great-grandchildren, Jackson Phenix, and Jackson Chad Hutto. Other survivors include her sister, Gracellen Morris and husband, Tom Morris of Longview, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Phenix, Charlie Hutto, Clark Phenix, Micah Phenix and Casey Fretty. Honorary pallbearers will be James Mason, John McCarter, Luther Keitt, Wayne Freeman, Neil Pennal, Kenny Morris, Gene Smith, and Dallas Woods.

Corneil's family is very thankful for the loving care provided by the precious caregivers who attended to Corneil's every need during her extended illness.
