    • Obituary:

      HOLCOMB, MO. - James C. Crowe, Jr., 74, of Holcomb, Mo., passed away Jan. 16, 1990 at the Kennett Health Care Center.

      He was born May 2, 1915, in Holcomb, the son of James C. Crowe, Sr. and Bertie (Matthews) Crowe.

      Mr. Crowe was a farmer, former Portage Township trustee, first postmaster of Portage and served on the Portage School Board. He was a member of the Memphis, Tenn. Church of the Nazarene and a World War II Navy veteran.

      On Dec. 31, 1933, in Gideon, Mo., he married Mary Louise Porterfield who survives.

      He was preceded in death by one son, James Lee Crowe.

      Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Filler of Tennessee and Susan E. Sarkkinen of Michigan; one sister, Mildred Burch of Florida, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

      Services 11 a.m. Saturday at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel, Kennett, Mo.; Rev. Randy Garner officiating; burial to Memorial Gardens, Kennett; visitation 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
