- Obituary:
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Effie Tanner Logan, 91, who passed away on October 9, 2012 at 12:40 am at Courtyard Manor.
Reverend Sam Blaylock, Pastor of Northside Baptist Church, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Logan, a resident of Lafayette, LA, was the daughter of the late James Walton Tanner of Indianola, Mississippi and the former Lillian LeBlanc of Broussard, Louisiana. She was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Army Nurse Corps. Effie was a member of the American Legion, American Nurses Association, the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the District IV Louisiana Nurses Association where she was president from 1957 to 1959. She was a past member of Northside Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Lafayette. After the war, she started her nursing career at St. Anne's Infirmary. During her career, she worked at Our Lady of Lourdes, Lafayette Charity Hospital and Cypress Hospital. For a brief period of time, she worked as a home health nurse. She held her Registered Nurse license for the past 70 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelly L. Rhodes of Lafayette, LA, and companion Mark Bolner; two sons, Patrick J. Logan and wife Louise of Lafayette, LA and Glenn T. Logan of Alexandria, VA; six grandchildren, Kimberly Logan, Brian Logan, Lindsay Logan, Thomas Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes and Renee Box; and two great grandchildren, Dylan Logan and Caleb McClellan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Logan, one grandchild, Eric Logan, one sister, Doris Tanner, and two brothers, James Russell Tanner and Robert Tanner.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Brian Logan, Thomas Rhodes, Michael Arceneaux, Lee Carricut, Mark Bolner, and Bill Prudhomme.
The family would like to thank Griswold Home Care, Our Lady of Lourdes 3rd floor nursing staff, Courtyard Retirement and Courtyard Nursing Home and Hospice of Acadiana.
