- Obituary:
Betty Jo Hebert Abshire was born on January 30, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Carl Mark and Bessie Davis (Dixon) Hebert, and passed away on January 18, 2021. She married the love of her life, Charles (Toby) Abshire on February 28th 1954. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Betty was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family, her neighbors, and her Church Community.
In 1956 Betty and Toby moved to Houston to raise their family. Once her children were older, Betty accepted a position at Houston Tape & Label, where she made life-long friends. Betty and Toby were founding members of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Betty volunteered many hours for the St. Vincent de Paul, Alter Guild, Women's Club, Apostles of Good Will, and Catholic Daughters while offering her time to other charitable endeavors. Betty's outgoing personality, her sweet spirit towards all, her love of adventure, her faithfulness to family and friends, and her deep love and devotion to Christ are just a few of the many things that will be missed by all.
Betty is survived by her five children: Mary Abshire Collins, James Abshire, Kirwin Abshire, Paula Abshire Rolin and Glen Abshire, her son-in-law Michael Rolin, Daughter-in-Laws Darlene Abshire and Sherri Abshire, Grandchildren, Leah Wood, Matthew Wood, Cortland Collins, Jacalynn Rolin, Evan Collins, Nathan Rolin and Jessica Abshire Dluhos Her four Great Grandchildren, who she loved and cherished, Emerson Kate Dluhos, Presley Marie Wood, Beckett Charles Dluhos and Connor Michael Rolin Brown. Betty is also survived by her brother Dixon Hebert and his wife Sue, sister Elizabeth Hebert Roy and her husband Aubrey and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am. Saturday, January 23, at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at 1:00pm, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy., Groves, Texas 77619.
