Ella Mae (Andrus) May, 96 of North Zulch, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2016, in Bryan. A celebration of her life was held Friday; March 25, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. Glenn Connor officiated. Visitation was held Thursday at Day Funeral Home Chapel.

Ella Mae was born on Nov. 4, 1919, in North Zulch to James and Letha (Coldiron) Andrus and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert May; her children, Betty Wade and Martha May; and her siblings, James Andrus, Herman Andrus, Nettie Nelson, and Melba McGinty.

Ella Mae is survived by her children, Robert May and his wife, Joyce, James May and his wife Pat, Delores Birchum, Donald May and his wife, Katie, Linda Presley and her husband, Michael, Lanelle Gafford, and Terry May; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

MADISONVILLE - Funeral services for Melba Ruth McGinty, 68, of North Zulch will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch.

Mrs. McGinty died Sunday night in a Bryan hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of North Zulch. Mrs. McGinty was a homemaker and a Baptist.

MADISONVILLE - Funeral services for Estelle Nelson, 65, of North Zulch will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Willowhole Chapel.

Mr. Rusty Hudson, of the Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Willowhole Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at J.M. Day Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nelson died early Sunday morning in St. Joseph Hospital.

She was a lifelong resident of North Zulch. Mrs. Nelson was a waitress.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Davis, in 1983.

Funeral for Herman Monroe Andrus, 54, of Rusk, formerly of Lufkin, was at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren Conner Funeral Home with Michael Curry officiating. Burial was a 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Madison County.

Mr. Andrus died Thursday in a Tyler hospital after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Madison County. He was a carpenter and a member of the Southside Baptist Church at Lufkin. He had lived in Rusk for nine months and formerly lived at Lufkin.

Survivors include his wife, Gale Andrus of Rusk; two sons, Duane Andrus of Lufkin and Dallas Andrus of Baytown; two stepsons, Danny Shugart of Maydelle and Jakie Walker of Rusk; two daughters, Kim West and Vicki Lucas of Sulphur Springs; four step-daughters, Sheila Hassell of Maydelle, Brenda Dominy of Rusk, Starla Walker of Chanelview and Debra Walker of Pasadena; two sisters, Ella May and Estelle Nelson of North Zulch; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Possum McGinty was born on September 11, 1946 in Brazoria County, Texas to Melba (Andrus) and Bill McGinty and passed away on August 6, 2015 at the age of 68. Possum was a one of a kind, burley and amazing man. He lived life the way he wanted to. He loved to have fun. He didn't take anything from any one, but if you needed something, he was the first to help. Possum was one of those people; you either loved him or you didn't.

He loved life and loved his wife and kids, not only in words but in actions. They never needed anything; he saw to that, what ever it took. He was a daddy that was always there in good times and bad. He taught his kids and grandkids how to handle what ever life threw at them and he tried his very best to help them. He loved them all the same and even thought there were times when they had it hard and he expected more from them. He only wanted them to have more than what he had when he was growing up. He wanted them to make something out of themselves. As always, he didn't express it the way others would, but he made sure he said it anyway.

Possum loved his family with his whole heart, but to him there was only one person that could ever be the best and that was his wife, Debra. She was Possum's life and he wanted her to have the best of everything and worked hard to see that the love of his life was always happy. Possum always said that she was his best friend.

He loved to cook and made the best home made rolls. Possum also loved to pick up cans. He would sell them and give the money to his kids or people who needed help. He also loved to stop and talk with people. He would ride his golf cart and take his great grandson with him.

Possum and his family lived in North Zulch for the past 37 years and were members of the Iola Worship Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom & Ronnie McGinty; his mother-in-law, Irma Vice; brothers-in-law, Doug Vice and David Stephens.

Survivors include: his wife Debra McGinty; son, Charley Bill Stark; three daughters, Tiffany McGinty, Kay Anderson & husband, Anthony, Karla Garza & husband, Edward; three brothers, Sam McGinty, James McGinty & Billy Ray McGinty and a sister, Donna Kay Davis. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Chaciti Bradford & husband, Kedrick, Tyce Alexander, Possum McGinty, Levi Stark, Faith McGinty, Steven Kapeel, Jonathon Kapeel, Dustin Kapeel and Kavin Bradford and Killian Bradford.

He was born in Madisonville and worked as a rig-welder at Truck and Pickup in Houston for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Eugene Kellar of Bryan; three daughters, Toni Elizabeth Kellar, Stephanie Diann Kellar and Tessa LeeAnn Kellar, all of Bryan; five brothers and a sister-in-law, Edward Earl and Sherrie Wade of Iola, Randy Allen Wade of Bryan, William Jonathon May of Houston, and Brian Keith Wade and Steven Anthony Wade, both of North Zulch; a sister, Tonya Nicole Wade of North Zulch; her father, David Earl Wade of Bryan; her mother, Betty Jean Wade of North Zulch; her paternal grandmother, Lela James of Bryan; and her maternal grandmother, Ella May of North Zulch.

Visitation for Justin Monroe Andrus, age 30, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

Justin passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at his residence in Sulphur Springs. He was born on February 9, 1987, the son of Duane Andrus and Michelle (Smith) Myers in Sulphur Springs, TX. He was a traffic controller for AWP.

He is survived by his parents, Duane and Dene Andrus, and Michelle and Loren Myers; daughter, Averie Nichole Andrus; son, Rylan James Andrus; sisters Shona Deanne Lee, Jamie Diane Bockemehl, Samantha and husband Garnett Stevens, Shayna Smith; brothers, Shawn Duane Andrus, Christopher David Bockemehl, Austin Myers; grandmothers, Mary McKinney Gurten, Delores Cain and great grandmother Arline Flora.

Justin was preceded in death by both grandfathers.
