JoAnn Madden, 41-year resident of Julian, CA passed away peacefully in her home on January 10, 2011 with family by her side.
Born in McMillian, OK on January 25,1936 to Charles and Maggie Crow; she was the youngest daughter of nine siblings. She moved to Pasco, WA as a young adult and attended area schools until her graduation for Pasco High in 1954, were she was a Pasco High Majorette. Shortly after graduation she moved to California were she met and married her husband Roy S. Madden on April 12, 1958, together they moved to Julian, CA in 1969 and raised their four boys.
JoAnn enjoyed working out doors with her lilacs; she loved playing tennis, spending time with her friends and was an avid artist. She also enjoyed traveling; in 2008 she and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by traveling to the Grand Canyon via train with her close friends and her family. She was a grand homemaker and wonderful mother. She was known to always have open arms for her children and their friends, providing many dinners, rides to school functions and attending many sporting games.
She leaves behind her husband of almost 53 years, Roy S. Madden, her children Michael R. Madden and his fiancé Patrizia Diramio of Boston, Ma., Patrick G. Madden and his wife Rhona of Castro Valley, Ca., Brian J. Madden and wife Cecelia of South Mills, NC. And Daniel F. Madden and his wife Jennifer of Woodland, Ca. Five grandchildren Norman, Amber, Briana, Justin and Matthew Madden. She also survived by her four siblings, Glenda Reigh of Admore, OK., Donald Crow of Kennewick, Wa., Helen Dorrego of Pasco, WA. and Charles Crow of Kewaskum, WI. Along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Maggie Crow and four siblings Grady "Toss" Crow, Theda Goggans, Madge Turner and Mildred "Millie" Pastore-Rose.
A Memorial Celebration of life will be held at the home of Carol Comstock and John Barnes, dear family friends. 4685 Quiet Oaks Trail, Julian Ca. from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday, January 15, 2011

Obituary:
Michael R. Madden, of Sandwich, passed away, at home, suddenly on Sunday, December 4th. He was 63. Michael was born in Long Beach, CA, and is the son of Roy S. and the late Margaret "Joanne" (Crow) Madden.
Mike received his Bachelor's Degree at National University in San Diego, CA. As a young adult, he completed his flight training at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA, and began what would be a long, exciting, and happy career in aviation. Flying both domestic and international, Mike's training throughout his years allowed him to fly various classifications of aircraft, which he flew to cities and countries all over the world. With over 35 years experience, Mike retired in 2020 as a Captain for USAir/American Airlines.
In his personal life, Mike enjoyed spending time with the people he loved. He adored his wife Patty "Pattycakes", loved spending time with his family, and truly valued and loved his many friends. He was an avid and accomplished golfer. Whether it was a local game with friends at his home course in Cape Cod where he was a member of the Ridge Club, or an international high level golf tournament, Mike was happiest on the golf course, and was a huge sports fan of all kinds, especially football. He also enjoyed fishing, trying new restaurants, an occasional nice cigar with his buddies, and exploring New England. Mike was well rounded, well traveled personally and professionally, and truly loved living life.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Patrizia "Patty" DiRamio. He is the dear brother of Patrick Madden and his wife Rhona, Brian Madden and his partner Andrea, and Daniel Madden and his wife Jennifer. Son-in-law of Gilda (Crognale) DiRamio and her late husband Dino. Brother-in-law of Rina Zappala and her husband Alfio, Diana Mancini and her husband Frank, and Liliana Silva and her husband Philip. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the DelloRusso Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, December 9th, from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
