    Lee O. Swain, 94, of 1810 Annie St. NW, a retired engineer with the Southern Railway System, died Thursday in a Marietta hospital.

    Mr. Swain, a native of Dyersburg, Tenn., had been a resident of Atlanta since 1896. He retired from Southern in 1939 after 45 years with the railroad. He was a member of the Nelms Masonic Lodge No. 323 in Smyrna.

    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hay-Gantt's chapel in Marietta with the Rev. Claude E. Smithmeier officiating. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery, Atlanta.

    Survivors include his wife of 71 years, the former Mary (Mamie) Moore; two sons, H. O. Swain, Smyrna, and Wayne F. Swain Sr., Atlanta; two daughters, Mrs. J. H. Huddleston, Atlanta, and Mrs. Marianna Dennis, Auburn, Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Mary T. Wright, Tampa, Fla., and a brother, Willis Swain, Atlanta.

Mrs. Huddleston was born in Atlanta and lived most of her life in Inman Yard and Bolton Communities before moving to Marietta in 1973. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Gantt, Marietta; one sister, Mrs. Marianne Dennis, Auburn, Ala.; one brother, Wayne F.     Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Marianna S. Dennis, 95, of Auburn will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Auburn Memorial Park. Dr. George Mathison will officiate.

    Visitation will be 12:30 till 1:30pm on Tuesday at Frederick's Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Dennis was born May 6, 1908 in Atlanta, GA, to the late Lee O. and Mary Moore Swain. She retired from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Dennis, MD.

    Survivors include two sons, Bill (Bettye) Dennis, Decatur, AL and Jeptha (Joan) Dennis of Warner Robins, GA; five grandchildren; Lee (Leona) Dennis, Decatur; Richard (Elizabeth "Liz") Dennis, Orlando, FL; Anna (Greg) Solomon, Tuscaloosa, AL; Leigh Ann (Chip) Manning, Huntsville, AL; Jaye Dennis, Atlanta, GA. Nine great-grandchildren, Marianna Dennis, West Palm Beach, FL; Will Dennis, Decatur, Al; Alex Dennis, Faith Dennis and Jordan Dennis all of Orlando, FL; Clark Solomon and Leigh Anna Solomon, both of Tuscaloosa, AL; Meg Manning and Trey Manning, both of Huntsville, Al.     Mr. Wayne F. Swain, Sr., of Lithonia, passed away Monday, February 3, 1992. He was a veteran of U.S. Army, W.W. II serving in the European Theatre and a member of the First Baptist Church of Smyrna. Mr. Swain was employed with the L & N Railroad as a Station Master for several years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edwina M. Swain, Winder; two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Swain, Covington; Mr. Wayne F.     Mary Ann Gantt, 82, of Marietta died Sunday February 20, 2011. Funeral Services will be Wednesday February 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home 915 Piedmont Road Marietta, GA 30066. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park. Mrs. Gantt lived most of her life in Cobb County. She was a Christian, Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. After her children were born, she dedicated herself to her family while volunteering in the community and at her children's schools. Mary Ann's grandchildren brought her great joy as well.     Mr. Dennis was born on March 22, 1930 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had lived in Warner Robins since 1988. He served thirty years in the United States Air Force before working for Rockwell-Boeing for ten years. He was a graduated of Auburn University in 1952 and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. His parents, Jeptha and Mariann Dennis, preceded him in death.

    William Lee Dennis, Sr., age 90, went to be home with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

    Bill was born on September 5, 1931, in Montgomery, Alabama to Dr. Jeptha and Marianna Dennis. He married his high school sweetheart, Bettye Brackeen, at Auburn United Methodist Chapel in August 1953. He was a proud and loving father to three children and was "TwoDaddy" to seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. After graduating from Lee County High School and the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, Bill served 2 years in the United States Air Force. Following active service, he accepted a job with the Chemstrand Corporation as a commercial artist and moved to Decatur, Alabama. He later owned his own business, Johnson and Dennis, worked for STS Corporation, and retired from Hutto Printing Company. He and Bettye moved to Auburn in 2018. Bill was an avid sports fan, including anything Auburn, Atlanta Braves, and Boston Red Sox. He loved his church, family, and his friends. He enjoyed volunteering at Decatur First United Methodist Church. His hobby of local, church, and family history led him to works including a History of the Dennis Family, editing the History of the First United Methodist Church (Decatur), and several Auburn history compilations. He published two books with his brother, Jep Dennis, about growing up in Auburn: A Kinder and Gentler Time and It Really Was a Lovely Village.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jeptha Dennis; and his son Richard "Dick" J. Dennis.

    He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bettye Brackeen Dennis; his son William "Lee" Dennis, Jr. (Leona), and daughter Anna Dennis Solomon (Greg); seven grandchildren (Marianna Dennis Frankwitt (Bill), Clark Solomon (Christina), Will Dennis (Haley), Leigh Anna Solomon Smyth (Patrick), Alex Dennis, Faith Dennis, Jordan Dennis (Liz Dennis, mother); and six great-grandchildren (Haven Frankwitt, Harbor Frankwitt, Eli Dennis, Bo Dennis, Emma Solomon, and Avery Solomon), and nieces Jaye Dennis and Leigh Dennis Manning (Chip).

    He was a member of the Decatur First United Methodist Church, Wesley Fellowship Class, Hilltoppers, Morgan County Historical Society, Auburn United Methodist Church, and Harvesters.

    Visitation will be held at Frederick-Dean Funeral Home from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on May 17, 2022.

    Graveside service will be held at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. following the visitation with Dr. George Mathison officiating.

    In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring his memory with a contribution to Auburn United Methodist Church or Decatur First United Methodist Church.

    Mr. Swain retired from The Atlanta Journal Constitution after 46 years. He was a devoted family man who loved golf, GA Tech Football, softball and racing cars. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Swain, daughter, Suzanne & Bryan Bowman, son, Jeffrey & Cathy Swain, grandchildren; Bonnie Bowman and Derrek & Laura Bowman, great-grandchildren; Alexa Griffin, Rylan Tribby, Vivian Bowman and Wesley Bowman, brother, Wayne Swain Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

    Richard "Dick" Jefferson Dennis, 54, of Celebration, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 8, 2012. Graveside funeral services will be held at Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012, with Dr. George Mathison officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Fredericks Funeral Home from 9:30 until 10:30 am.

    He was born in Decatur on October 13, 1957, to Bill and Bettye Dennis. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1976 and followed his dream to play football for Auburn University. While his knee injuries interrupted his football career, his love for Auburn University never wavered. He graduated in 1980 with a B.S. in Industrial Management. He lived and worked in business in the Orlando area. He was a proud and loving father to his three daughters.

    Richard is survived by his daughters, Alexandra Elizabeth, Faith Elizabeth and Jordan Ann; his parents, William Lee "Bill" Dennis Sr. and Bettye Brackeen Dennis of Decatur; his brother, William "Lee" (Leona) Dennis Jr. and sister, Anna Dennis (Greg) Solomon; the mother of their children, Liz Lange Dennis; cousins, Jaye Dennis and Leigh Dennis (Chip) Manning; nephews, Clark Solomon and Will Dennis; nieces, Marianna Dennis (Bill) Frankwitt and Leigh Anna Solomon; and great-nephew, Haven Frankwitt.

    Pallbearers will be Clark Solomon and Will Dennis, and friends, Mark Daily, Bobby Demoss, Mike Dishman, Scott Hagood, Bob Hamilton and Ronnie Hughes.

    While our hearts are broken by our earthly loss, we rejoice in our Lord who comforts us in our time of pain while welcoming Dick into His kingdom.

    A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church in Celebration, Florida.
