    Tempest Winn Services Held Dec. 19

    Tempest Winn, 83, Elkhorn, formerly of Twin Lakes, died Dec. 16 at Lakeland Nursing Home, Elkhorn.

    She was born Sept. 9, 1914, in Holcomb, MO, the daughter of Eisen and Florence Goodman Crow. On Sept. 10, 1932, in Piggott, AR, she married Vernon Winn. He died in 1977. She and her husband owned and operated Winn's Inn in Chicago.

    She lived in Frisbee, MO, before moving to Twin Lakes seven years ago. She was a member of Westosha Baptist Church. She enjoyed chrocheting and doing ceramics.

    Mrs. Winn is survived by two daughters, Pat Meier, Powers Lake and Janet Ludwig, Chicago; a son, Michael Winn, Joliet, IL; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

    Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 19, at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral home, Twin Lakes. Interment was Saturday in Poplar Bluff, MO.

    The family suggested memorials to the Westosha Baptist Church.

    Ernest Wilson Crow was born on August 31, 1916, in Dunklin County, Mo., the son of the late Eston and Florence Goodman Crow and died on Monday morning, September 20, 1965, in his home in Ferguson, Mo., at the age of 49 years.

    Mr. Crow made his home in and around Holcomb, Mo., from birth until about 10 years ago when he moved with his family to Ferguson, Mo. He is well-known and highly respected in and around the Holcomb area.

    He had been ill for several months suffering from the effects of cancer.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fern Crow of Ferguson; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Jo Rankin of Florrisant, Mo., and Miss Sheila Crow of the Air Force and stationed in Syracuse, New York; one son, William Crow of St. Louis, Mo., six grandchildren; two brothers, Edmond Ray of San Diego, California and J. C. Crow of Holcomb, Missouri; seven sisters, Mrs. Freda Luther of Holcomb, Mrs. Tempest Winn of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Pearl Davis of Holcomb, Mrs. Jackie Correll of San Diego, California, Mrs. Cora Hogue of Bragg City, Mrs. Lora Wilson of California and Mrs. Verna Vaughn of Indiana, together with many other relatives and a host of friends.

    Mass was said at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Kennett. Rosary service was held on Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Russell Mortuary in Piggott, Ark.

    Funeral services were held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. in the Russell Chapel in Piggott, Ark., with Rev. Wallace Elinger officiating. Burial was in Stanfield Cemetery with Russell Mortuary of Gideon in charge of arrangements.

    Asleep in the arms of Jesus, William (Bill) Crow, born in Antioch, CA 7/4/1943 passed on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

    Most cherished husband of Judy (Zimmermann) Crow for 59 years. Beloved father of William Jr (Chip) and Karen Crow, Sharon Crow, Christine and Jon Lindell, and Scott and Lori Crow. Dear Grandfather of Kristen, Kyle, Jon, Josh, Bailey, Carter, and Sophie. Loving cousin of Carolyn Trice and Theresa Baker, Uncle of Tiffany Podge, and brother of Betty Jo Rankin and Shelia Kettler. Very special friend to Dave Carter, Steve Garner, and Joe Gentile. Preceded in death by his mother, Fern Patterson Britton and his grandparents Elvis and Mary Patterson as well as lifelong friends Bob Schaefer and Don Whitlock. He was a loyal friend to many and will be missed by all.

    Bill graduated in 1968 from the Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, MO. with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with his major interest in Aerospace. He fulfilled this in his career and as a result, he was fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and make friends all throughout the world.

    Bill was very involved in raising his children and as a result, was dedicated to the community. He was a member of the Hazelwood School District PTA and School Board. He coached the Florissant-Hazelwood JFL, and was involved in the political functions of the Democrats of North St. Louis County.

    He was proud of his seven grandchildren and enjoyed taking part in their many activities and adventures. Family and friends were the cornerstone of his life.
