| 3467 | Obituary: Sally Dianne Feldman September 19, 1947 - October 26, 2025 Sally Dianne Ross Feldman passed away peacefully in the presence of her children on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025. Dianne was born on Sept 19th, 1947 to Emmitt James and Albina Frances Ross. She was the last of 10 children, the baby of the family. She grew up in Wellborn, Texas and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School. She attended business school in Houston and held jobs there, and in College Station. On Oct. 26th 1968, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Danny Lee Feldman. Together, they raised 2 children, Dana Nicole and David Ross. Attending their sporting events was something she and Danny loved to do, and occasionally she coached soccer teams for David and softball teams for Dana. Dianne spent most of her career working as a legal assistant for the law firm that is now Rodgers, Miller, Rodriguez & Fusco. This firm wasn't just a place where she went to work, she considered them family, even forming a friend group "The Cha Chas" that carried on into retirement. In 2001, during the months when Danny was ill, the firm afforded her the opportunity to work from home so she could continue to care for him until his final days. Dianne retired from the law firm in 2017 and moved to Montgomery, Texas so she could be closer to her children and grandchildren. She had a small condo on the lake and loved sitting on her patio watching the boats and jet skis move in and out of the cove. Dianne made fast friends with a ladies group in her condo community. Many afternoons were spent with them by the pool enjoying fellowship and games. They spent the holidays caroling and gathering for hot chocolate and gift exchanges. While she loved being a mom, it was in May of 2003 that she took on the role she loved best; the role of Mimi. Mimi spoiled her granddaughter, Catherine Dianne, and in November 2005, she spread her love to a grandson, Gabriel Ervin. Her two grandchildren were "the lights of her life." Spending time with them was a privilege for her. "Mimi Camp" was a week-long event she hosted for them in the summers during which she would teach them how to cook, fish, and craft. The days were filled with love, laughter, movies and cake for breakfast. Watching them grow was so special to her and it was a gift to watch her face light up in their presence. Dianne was also a sister to 9 siblings. A close knit family that loved spending time with each other. One particular gathering she always looked forward to was "Sister Weekend." A time when all of the sisters and sisters in law would get together and work on a sewing or quilting project. Not much sleep was had, but so much fun. Other favorites included Ross Christmas, 4th of July celebrations at Bob and Ann's, and family trips to Port Aransas. Dianne is survived by her children Dana Briers and husband Scott, David Feldman and wife Courtney; grandchildren Catherine and Gabriel Briers; siblings Maise Gandy, Helen Kennon, Sue Flato, and JD Ross; brother in law Edgar and his wife Susie, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Lee Feldman, her parents, Emmitt James and Frances Ross, siblings Irene Miller, Emmitt "Buck" Ross Jr., Patsy Sargent, Nell Summerlin, and Robert "Bob" Ross. A Celebration of Life for Dianne will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at Memorial Funeral Chapel of College Station. Visitation will be from 2:00pm-3:00pm with the service to immediately follow. The family would like to thank Devotion Hospice for their care in Dianne's final days. Especially Kate, Latrish, Meredith, and Chaplain Jude. Their kindness helped her final days be ones filled with laughter and hope. As well as Stephanie Powell with Conroe Funeral Directors for her kindness and help with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Assistance League of Montgomery County, Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center, or Tap Out Cancer. | 3471 | Obituary: SAMMY JOE SIMS October 6, 1945 - April 4, 2023 On Tuesday, April 4, 2023 Sammy Joe Sims, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 77 surrounded by his family. Sammy was born on October 6, 1945 in Cleburne, TX to Jewel Ezell and Creola Pearl Sims. As a young child Sammy enjoyed riding his horse, Judy, bareback while playing cowboys and Indians. In his teenage years, he could be found hanging out with his friends at the Tejas in Cleburne, TX. Sammy loved to have a great time and was always the life of the party. It was no secret that Sammy made his family proud, but they were extra proud when he served in the Vietnam War as a soldier in the United States Army. After his time in the Army Sammy worked at United Auto Supply for a short while and then began working at Ken's Muffler Shop where he spent 30+ years. Throughout his life Sammy also served as a security guard for the Cedar Hill school district, a Special Education bus driver for the Cedar Hill school district and he also drove a bus for the Cedar Hill Senior Citizens Community Center. Friends set Sammy up on a blind date where he met Helen Birch and fell in love. They were married on June 18, 1971 in Oak Cliff, TX. They welcomed their daughter Tammy Rena on March 27, 1972 and then their son Kelly Don on October 31, 1976. Sammy's children were his pride and joy. On any given weekend throughout the 70s and 80s you could find Sammy riding dirt bikes with his wife, children, siblings, nieces, and nephews. As Sammy grew older his love of motorcycles continued. He bought a Harley and loved to cruise the streets. In 2013, Sammy found his love of old cars. It was a passion that he and his brother Jacky shared. He bought and restored two classic cars, a 1970 SS Chevelle and a 1963 Impala. Sammy and Jacky along with their wives enjoyed going to many different car shows. He was a member of numerous car clubs where he won various awards for his cars and met many lifelong friends. Sammy loved his grandchildren to the moon and back. He enjoyed going to the family farm in Rio Vista, TX where they would ride the mule around and he would teach the kids to shoot guns. All three grandchildren would agree that their Paw Paw lived to spoil them rotten and share his love of old cars with them by toting them along to car shows. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, great sense of humor, his kind heart, and his love of family. | 3481 | Obituary: Sandra Kinney Sandra Kay Kinney earned the lines on her weather-worn face, family and friends said, battling alcoholism, riding the rails in West Texas and recovering miraculously, though temporarily, from liver disease. A mother of two and grandmother of four, Kinney died Sept. 5. She was 56. Kinney loved to shop, Dumpster-dive and eat vanilla ice cream with brownies. She was often called stubborn by her children and husband, but she always had a smile on her face, they said. "Sandy had a wonderful smile," said Lloyd Bell, her husband of 18 years. Kinney was born Jan. 2, 1953, in Seagraves. She was close to her grandfather, who lived on the streets in West Texas and often caught trains from town to town. She eventually followed in his footsteps and rode the rails herself in West Texas. During her life, Kinney had a variety of jobs, including making parts for Shell Oil Co., cashiering at Wal-Mart and selling sandwiches and sodas from her van at construction sites. She joined Austin's homeless population in 2000 or 2001, Bell said, living under a bridge near Barton Creek Parkway. "She liked having friends on the streets," Bell said. "She just liked that lifestyle." Almost three years ago, Kinney lay in the hospice care of Mary House Catholic Worker of Austin, a home that takes in the homeless, with less than two weeks to live. Eight months later, she was discharged as her deadly case of cirrhosis went into remission. To those who cared for her during her illness, her recovery was no less than a miracle. "God looked down on me," she told the American-Statesman in June 2007. "He gave me a second chance at life." After her discharge, Alan Graham, president of Mobile Loaves and Fishes, gave Kinney a trailer where she lived for a while before she moved into public housing in November 2008. She did not drink for almost two years. But about two months ago, Kinney began to drink again, which eventually led to her liver failure, Bell said. After a month of suffering, she died quietly at Christopher House of Hospice Austin surrounded by her friends and family, he said. Kinney's survivors include Bell and daughters Laini Jenkins and Becky Smith. (Published in The Austin American-Statesman from September 11 to September 16, 2009) | Kinney, Sandra Kay (I738)

| 3492 | Obituary: Saturday Rites for Lifelong Rayne Resident Rayne lost another of its loved 'senior citizens' this past week when death claimed Miss Mary Ella McBride, 84, member of one of Rayne's first families who dated back to the days of Poupeville, Miss McBride passing away at the Rayne Guest Home on Friday at 11:30 a.m. after a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 a.m. from St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Emery Labbe officiating. Interment followed in the family plot in the old St. Joseph Cemetery with Gossen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Sidney McBride, Warren McBride, Harold Leleux, Jr., Harold Leleux, Sr., Tony Privat and Edwin "Butch" Ousse. Miss McBride was a native of Rayne and a lifelong resident here. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Scott McBride, her mother being the former Aurelia Perres, and member of one of the pioneer families in this area. Mr. and Mrs. McBride resided in Poupeville, and were among the settlers of that section who moved with the entire Poupeville community up to the railroad tracks in the 1880's when the settlement of Poupeville was renamed to Rayne. She was educated in local schools and later joined her brother, the late Walter J. McBride in the operation of what was originally McBride's Confectionery, then later became McBride's Drug Store. She was an important part of this business firm, and served the public faithfully over a long span of years, assisting her brother, and, in her quiet, sweet manner, making many friends for the drug store. For some time, this was also the offices for the Greyhound Bus lines and she handled the ticket office operation. She remained with the firm until Walter's retirement, when she also retired and devoted the remainder of her days to enjoying members of her family and her many friends. She had been in ill heath for some time, and had been a resident at the Guest Home for several years where she was a loved part of the group of friends there. "Miss Ella" will always be remembered fondly by her family and by the many friends of long standing who were intimate as only friends from childhood on can remain. She was an interesting part of Rayne's earlier business life, and she contributed much, along with her brother in providing one of Rayne's well known business establishments, located next to today's Gene's Shoe Store. Much of the original McBride's building was torn down in recent years to make way for the present Rayne State Bank parking area. Her brothers and sisters have all preceded her in death, and she is survived only by numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. Among these are Tony Privat, Warren McBride, Sidney McBride, Edward McBride of Maryland, Harold McBride of Germany, Glenn McBride of Brownsville, Texas, Tom and Joe McBride of Lake Charles, Mrs Edwin Ousse, Mrs. Dan LeLeux and Mrs. A.E. Raymond, Jr. all of Rayne, Mrs. Harold LeLeux of Estherwood, Mrs. Gabe Alandin of Connecticut and Mrs. Howard Duran of Lake Charles.
