912 | Obituary: Curtis Schultz July 3, 1944 - May 20, 2016 "The good and the wise lead quiet lives." --Euripides, ancient Greek philosopher A good man of few words, Curtis Gene Schultz passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at age 71. He was our beloved husband, father and grandfather, and we already miss him dearly. Born in Lyons, TX, on July 3, 1944, to Herman W. Schultz and Alvina Poehl Schultz, Curtis grew up in Lyons and Somerville as his mother and father worked their family farm. He was the youngest in a family with much older siblings, including his two brothers and two sisters: Herman W. Schultz Jr. (and wife Dene, both now deceased), Edwin Schultz (and wife Delphine), Esther Schultz Kizer (and husband Emil, both now deceased), and Mavis Schultz Outlaw (and husband Lloyd, now deceased). A solitary boy, Curtis spent his youth mostly outside, fishing or hunting squirrels and rabbits in addition to communing with God through nature. But he wasn't always an angel, and he liked a challenge, such as during his time at Somerville High School, when he once climbed the rock wall on the side of the football stadium-on a dare-in order to relieve himself. After graduation, Curtis went to work for the railroad, then later found employment as a Medical Equipment Technician until his retirement in 2006 from American Home Patient. He met his wife, Rada Laverne Nutt Schultz, through his work for National Medical Rentals. She answered his company calls in Arkansas, and soon, their conversations about business led to personal discussions that grew longer and longer. In 1996, Rada finally came to Texas to meet Curtis in person; they married on May 30, 1998 at Heritage Park. Through their eighteen years of marriage, Curtis and Rada never fought once, and their children include Mysti Schultz (now deceased) and Cindy Durning. The Schultzs later accepted Cindy's daughter, Tristyn, in order to raise her as their own child, and Curtis loved spending time with her and his other children. They found their father patient and engaging, at times goofy and always approachable despite his reserved nature. He was caring and kind, even as he posed his favorite rhetorical question, "How dumb can you be?" He loved piddling around his yard in his favorite camo clothes as he listened to classic country music-songs by singers like George Jones, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard-and watched Astros baseball, happy to be at home, especially if someone had just made a warm batch of oatmeal raisin cookies to share with him. But he also enjoyed the chance to get away now and then, such as with his trip to Exotic Zoo Resort in Johnson City, TX, or to his favorite Mexican restaurants. He was a simple man with simple tastes and a quiet strength of character that let others simply love him. Mourning the loss of Curtis are his surviving family members including his wife Rada, his daughters Cindy and Tristyn, as well as his beloved grandson, Matthew; brother, Edwin; and sister, Mavis. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother (Herman), his sister (Esther) and one daughter (Mysti). Just as Curtis believed in heaven and Jesus, so are his family members assured of his salvation and eternal rest in The Lord. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Abbeville, Louisiana. Daisetta was born Sunday, September 11, 1927 in Theall, Louisiana to the union of the late Jerome and Sue Guidry Hebert. She married her true love, Linwood John Hebert, February 1, 1946, after he returned from serving in the Navy in WWII. They were married 61 years when L.J. passed in 2007. They made their home in Abbeville where their two oldest children were born then the family moved to Texas City, Texas where her youngest two sons were born and they lived for 30 years. Daisetta always had a passion for cooking and opened a popular Cajun restaurant she ran for several years. After returning to her home in Abbeville in the 1980s, she enjoyed her life with her cooking, with her family, especially her grandkids, working her beautiful crafts and gardening. She loved spending time with her lifelong friends over their Saturday morning coffee gatherings. She was an inspiration to all who sought her advice on cooking and homeopathic health care, certainly a tribute to her longevity of 94 years. The intensity of our loss can't be described in prose but only through how we live out our lives in honor of her and for the Glory of God. She is preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Hebert; her parents, Jerome and Lillian Sue Guidry Hebert; and siblings, Raymus Hebert, Rodney Hebert, Dorothy (Rose) Burks, and Lois LaBorde. Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Jayson Hebert (Charlien) of Friendswood, TX, Joel Hebert (Jeffa) of Friendswood, TX, and Jerome Hebert of Friendswood, TX; and one daughter, Corliss Speights (Michael) of Dickinson, TX. Those who called her MamaDae are Christie Ingram (Christopher), Shea Muehsler (Dennis), Brent Hebert, Ryan Hebert (Carrie), Maegan Bubenik (Chase), Amanda Law (Charlie), and Missy McCachern (Paul); and fifteen great grandchildren. She's also survived by one brother, Luther Hebert (Yvonne); one sister, Arthurine Bates; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM; and Monday, May 16, 2022 from 8:00 AM until 9:45 Am when the procession will depart for the church. 925 | Obituary: Dale Erwin Krage October 5, 1941 - November 3, 2019 Veteran. Draftsman. Photographer. Father. Iconoclast. Mountain Man. Mischief-Maker. Dale Erwin Krage passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3rd, at Discovery Care Center in Salmon, ID. He is survived by his son, Joshua Dale Krage, 42, of Sacramento, CA, and by sisters Jeanice Tipps and Lenore Young. Born in Olive, CA, to parents Erwin and Margaret Krage, Dale was a lanky and dutiful son. He joined the US Army in 1962 and served 4 years before being honorably discharged in 1966. Among his other pursuits, he was an accomplished draftsman for several contractors, a skilled and studied photographer, and an all-around character in several social circles through the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas. In the 1970's he became a bit of a presence in the North Hollywood rock and roll scene where he met Linda Lou Hiwa, with whom he fathered a son, Joshua, in 1977. Through much of the 1980's he split time between his Santa Ana home and the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, where he fell in love with Idaho and eventually moved there in the mid 1990's, pursuing his in-demand architecture designs for high-end homes in Ketchum and around Sun Valley. Many of his exquisite and breathtaking houses can still be found in that area. Dale officially retired in the early 2000's. Wherever mountains were, is where his heart wandered, spending as much time as possible venturing to several "rendezvous" meet-ups in the celebrated Mountain Man community to trade his wares, hunt deer with his old long-barrel rifles, and generally sit about trading stories with everyone around the fire. Before transferring to Discovery, Dale lived in Challis, ID, for many years, bringing his handmade leatherwork wares to the Farmer's Market and often seen reading the paper on his front porch or occupying a breakfast booth at the Y-Inn Cafe for several hours on any given morning. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Hall in Challis this coming Monday, November 18th, at 1pm. All are welcome to attend. Memorial donations can be made in Dale's name to Safe Haven of Challis or Discovery Care Center of Salmon. (Published by Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, ID) | Krage, Dale Erwin (I7232)
